Mulch/Planting/Pruning
Having removed trees Scanlon Tree Services can provide planting plans and plant the trees.
Deadwooding
Deadwooding is the removal of dead/decaying branches from trees which are creating a hazard and in danger of falling.
Shredding
We provide an on-site timber shredding service. We can cater for small amounts of shredding using our chipper.
Hedge Maintenance
We provide a hedge maintenance services from small garden hedges to large boundary hedges.
Emergency Tree Care
Storms may cause limbs or entire trees to fall, often landing on other trees, homes and other structures, or cars. The weight of storm-damaged trees is great, and they can be dangerous to remove or trim. We can assist in performing the job in a safe manner, while reducing further risk of damage to property.
Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Site Clearance
Our site clearance procedure involves the removal of all green materials, which may include trees, hedges, plants and grass. Site Clearance will be carried out to the highest of standards and will be completed in accordance with any specific customer requests.
Stump Removal
When a tree is felled or falls, the stump needs to be removed in order to prevent suckering and fungal root rots among other issues. Tree stumps are often very large and heavy, but with our very own stump grinder we can offer the service of stump removal which safely and easily removes the stump.
Tree Felling & Dismantling
Where space permits trees can be felled at ground level using a series of cuts ensuring that the tree falls into a designated area for further processing. Where the tree is unbalanced, pulling ropes and winches are used to guide the tree in the correct direction. Where there is not enough space to safely fell the tree in one it can be dismantled in sections ensuring more precision and control. When in close proximity to buildings and other objects, sections are lowered to the ground using ropes to ensure no damage is caused.
General Tree Maintenance
Crown Reduction & Reshaping
Performed to reduce the height and spread of a tree by cutting back branches to reduce the size of the crown, typically by 20-30%. This is normally done to decrease “wind-loading” on the tree which helps prevent crown damage and breakages.

Height Reduction
Crown of tree is drastically reduced in height to decrease the risk of failure and danger to surrounding objects.

Crown Lift
Lower branches of tree are pruned to raise canopy level and increase space and light under tree.

Crown Thinning
Crown thinning is the selective removal of stems and branches to increase light penetration and air movement as well as reduce wind resistance and weight throughout the crown of a tree. Mainly performed on broadleaf trees only.
