CounterStorm is an IT Security focused organisation based in South Dublin. We help clients with all aspects of technology based security and our clients are typically law firms, individuals or commercial organisations.
We’re typically involved in forensic acquisition and investigations for solicitors or private companies though we have on occasion taken on individual clients. The legal cases that we have been involved in have on occasion been high profile and the consultants involved in the cases would often appear as expert witnesses in court. Our consultants are trained in writing expert witness reports for solicitors, courtroom techniques and cross examination.
CounterStorm also has a great GRC division which helps with ISO 27001 implementations, risk assessments and IT audits. Along similar lines we also offer a Security Officer (As A Service) which for smaller clients means that they have someone who can act as their Information Security Officer, giving the expertise and experience without the associated staff costs.
Part of what we do is also termed Incident Response, for these clients we would be the people that they call when they think they’ve had a security breach or a virus outbreak and we manage the situation, investigate it and suggest any remediation necessary.
Expert Witness Services
An expert witness’ main function is to provide his independent expert opinion to the court, based on the information provided by those instructing him. Permission of the court must be obtained before a party can rely on such evidence.
