CARRICK DOG SHELTER AND RESCUE

If you are considering a dog as a pet then please consider a rescue dog . Thousands of healthy stray / dumped / abandoned and unwanted dogs are destroyed each year in County Pounds . Carrick Dog Shelter is making a difference to this situation in County Monaghan .The majority of dogs in the shelter are healthy animals that have been taken from Monaghan Dog pound and were due to be destroyed - a smaller percentage are dogs that were voluntary surrendered to the shelter by owners who cannot or who are unwilling to care for their pet any more . The Shelter is now in its 8th year of providing care , rehabilitation and rehoming facilities to approx 50 pups and dogs at any one time which live at the premises until they find new homes – making Carrick Dog Shelter one of the largest and busiest dog rescues in Ulster .Carrick Dog Shelter is operated and run totally by volunteers , without these committed , dedicated and caring people many many more dogs would be destroyed every year in this county . We thank each and every one of them and are always delighted to welcome new volunteers . It is the shelters policy not to put to sleep any of its dogs unless an animal has an extremely serious injury , term illness or is deemed a danger or risk to the public.
