Back in ‘96, two young bakers Derek Cowley and Kevin Murphy were bonded by their love of cakes and cream. After working together in a couple of small patisseries they decided to take a leap of fate and go out on their own. They bundled their money together and over a couple of beers and a game or two of darts, cakesonline.ie was born. In 1998 the doors opened of their first bakery in the Liffey Trust Sheriff Street. After 4 difficult years of building their name and brand a neighbouring company went on fire and unfortunately everything to Derek and Kevin’s name was burned to the ground. They decided to move their business only 100m away to Castle Forbes Business Park were business eventually began to boom. Now 16 years later there is a bit of a difference in business! They no longer have to sit and wait for the phone to ring …our current home in South City Business Park pumps out over 900 cakes daily, supplies cakes to some of the biggest restaurants and hotels in Ireland and we still make the meanest chocolate cake in Ireland.
