Do you need to talk about anything? Anything?

Addiction Counselling

• The counsellor is experienced in a harm reduction/minimisation approach to substance misuse. Each client will have their own particular set of goals, which can be reviewed, if necessary, as work progresses. • The importance of addressing underlying issues is acknowledged. This may be painful work. By supporting clients in working through these issues, the risks of relapse can be reduced.

Anger Management

Anger, though it has its place, may express itself inappropriately, either towards others or yourself. We cannot control anger provoking situations, but we can manage our attitudes to them. Anger management counselling will look straight to the sources of your anger to get it in context. We then put strategies in place to manage it and to minimize anger confrontation or self harm.

Anxiety Counselling

The manifestations of anxiety may range from mild apprehension to fully-fledged panic attacks and phobias. Panic attacks can often be associated with agoraphobia. Many sufferers of agoraphobia can become prisoners in their own homes. Phobia’s involve fear being directed towards one specific object, activity or situation, which is then avoided. For example fear of spiders, flying, enclosed spaces and heights. Many people suffer silently and secretly for years.

Cancer & Counselling

This Psychological/Physiological/Educative course gives men an opportunity to learn all they wish to know about prostate and other cancers. It is a six weeks course with numbers to a maximum of eight men per course.

Coping with Depression

There are many reasons we can be frustrated in our ambitions. Fear of failure, lack of self worth or perhaps lack of confidence after many years bringing up children. We may feel very stuck and trapped in the work we do or life we have with no purpose or connection to the world around us. Creativity can be stifled and eroded through lack of self-esteem continuing the cycle of feeling unfulfille

Sexuality Counselling

The most secretive part of oneself, the private self, containing all the excluded and hidden desires and impulses. There is a deep wound for both men and women around our sexuality; it is hard to bring this to the surface. Fears, taboo’s hidden desires are cloaked in shame. Society mirrors this with how we should be to fit into and conform; public persona can hide a private experience around our sexuality. To begin to explore our sexuality can feel deeply exposing, a sense of nakedness and vulnerability and fears. Stripping the layers away to the most hidden parts of ourselves.

Trauma

If you’ve gone through a traumatic experience, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger. Or you may feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. When bad things happen, it can take awhile to get over the pain and feel safe again. But with the right treatment, self-help strategies, and support, you can speed your recovery. Whether the traumatic event happened years ago or yesterday, you can heal and move on.
